The Sinergias ED Community met on January 10th, 2023.

The main objectives of the meeting were:

  • Reinforce the inter-knowledge among the participating people and institutions;
  • Reflect and discuss collectively about the future paths of the Sinergias ED community and the Sinergias ED project;
  • Deepen the collaborative works within the community, providing an update of the status of the various processes that are taking place and promoting space for new ones that may arise;
  • Welcome new people and promote the cohesion of the Sinergias ED Community.

Among many moments, there was space to reflect on the community identity and on future paths the community aims for, as well as questioning the path of collaboration, namely in relation to what the community is doing and how the community will recreate new paths.

This initiative, that took place in Lisbon, was attended by 27 people who work in DE/GCE in Portugal with links to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), municipalities or other entities and organizations with an intervention/interest in DE, from different parts of the country.

It was a day highlighted by collaboration and sharing, essentially about the present and future of the Sinergias ED Community.

All together for Transformation and Social Justice!

The project "ReAct to climate changes: young people from Beira in reflection and action for the common good" was presented at the XI National and V International Congress on University Service-Learning, with a presentation on the impact that the first year of the project had on students.

The conception of this presentation was a good moment of internal reflection and the participation at this congress was a way of giving more external visibility to what was done.

The project ReAct emerged from the collaboration between Gonçalo da Silveira Foundation (FGS), Santo Agostinho Research Center (CISA) of Mozambique Chatolic University (UCM) and the Center for African Studies of the University of Porto (CEAUP), through the Service-Learning approach with young people of the communities of Beira, Mozambique.

The Sinergias ED project promoted two Cartoneros Book workshops on February 2nd and 4th, 2023.

These workshops, which took place at Gato Vadio in Porto, were aimed at a group of seniors from the Association Espaço T, and for a group of participants from the general public. In total, we had the participation of more than 25 people who were enthusiastic about creating a cartonero book.

This is how we continue to sustain the Universe of the Cartonero Movement, in partnership with the Association Animar and the Center for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra.

The Sinergias ED project, promoted by the Gonçalo da Silveira Foundation (FGS) and by the Centre of African Studies of Porto University (CEAUP), is co-funded by Camões, I.P. and it is supported by the University of Porto and the European network GENE (Global Education Network Europe).
