The Journal of US-Africa Studies  is an international, academic and interdisciplinary journal published in Portugal by the Center of African Studies of the University of Porto (CEAUP). TJUSAS publishes original, peer reviewed and high quality articles which contribute in a novel way to deal with the US-Africa social and political relations. It is meant to address the US policies towards the continent and to advance knowledge of the different geopolitical regions along with many other US-Africa bilateral political, economic, social and cultural relations.

The journal is published twice a year where the editorial project focuses on two major sections in each issue: Politics, Economy, Security and Strategic Interests and Education, Culture and African Societies.

Peer Review and Validation of Submitted Articles

Publishing original articles is a key to addressing important issues and to deliver high quality contents with the highest levels of research and publication ethics. Papers which make outstanding contributions to scholarly knowledge in the field are accepted after being reviewed by the Scientific Board/peer reviewers and being validated by the Editorial Board.

The editorial of each issue is usually published and signed by the Editorial Board or by one of the authors who contributed in that particular issue.

Every manuscript is blindly evaluated by at least two peer-reviewers on the basis of a standard form provided by the Editorial Board.

Submitted manuscripts are confidential documents and no information concerning them is to be disclosed to anyone other than the respective author(s), to the reviewers or to other members of the Editorial Board. Information disclosed in submitted manuscripts cannot be used in anyone else’s work without the express consent of its author(s).

The reviewer’s report is to be blindly given to the author(s) within a maximum period of two months after the submission of the manuscript. It will be accompanied by the final decision regarding publication issued by the Editorial Board.

Open Access Policy

Articles of The Journal of US-Africa Studies will be accessed online for free immediately on publication. Our open access policy will help increasing the visibility, readership and impact of the authors’ published manuscripts.
